Writing Little Bee

Not sure when toddlers will start to write their first words, but at a few months short of 3, WB2 writes. Actually he has written letters before and I guess this is the easiest word to write. Formed by letters/symbols he can already craft out. Managed to capture it this time and here’s a photo of it. Way to go WB2!
Perhaps it’s time to get the child to hold the pen in the proper manner.

Here's WB2 at work

The finished product! Tada!

QB’s kitchen – Chocolate chip bread

Once again it’s off day and something’s cooking in QB’s kitchen.

This time, I decided to try making chocolate bread buns. This is modified from recipe I found online. (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/23284/french-bread-rolls-to-die-for/)

Recipe for this chocolate chip bread buns is as follows

Ingredients:

340ml warm water
510g plain flour
1 tablespoon yeast
2 tablespoon sugar

2 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup of chocolate chips (as much or as little as you like)

Method:

  1. Mix the warm water, yeast and sugar
  2. To the mixture, add in the rest of the ingredients. Stir in the flour slowly until the dough has pulled away from the sides of the bowl. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover with damp cloth and let it rise for about 1 hr.
  3. Preheat oven to 200 degree C, Divide into small balls of dough and bake for about 20min, until golden brown.
Now you see it

Now you don't!

And when you see it again, it's all risen.

Tada! Bread fresh from the oven.

Baby Guidance Talk at Shichida

This is a free seminar I’ve attended some time back, but I’m writing about it only now. This is meant for parents of child less than 12 months old, and only parents are allowed to come. Children and babies are forbidden in the talk. The session is about 1hr long, with a few speakers (they are the Shichida teachers themselves) introducing the stages of baby dev elopement.

We went for the talk actually wanting to find out more about Shichida, having gone for the introductory session by Heguru sometime back. Was expecting the talk to be marketing session but was not entirely true. First half of the talk actually focuses more on the baby development, especially from 0-6 months. We’re also encouraged to have ‘conversations’ with the baby and also learnt that crawling helps the baby develop the muscles necessary for speech. In the introduction to Shichida, it was mentioned that they are not just training the right brain but also the left. So it’s more of a ‘whole brain’ training. But I thought since our system is more ‘left brain’ orientated, there should be more focus on the ‘right brain’. Anyway the session ends off with a goodie bag, including a small token voucher to off-set course fees when you sign up for the courses.

Words by the Little Beez

I was picking up WB2 from his childcare and I parked too close to the line on the driver’s side. When I came back with WB2, I saw that the adjacent lot has parked even closer to the line. So I got WB2 into the car via passenger side, while I tried to squeeze myself in via the driver side. WB2 went in and obediently sat in his child seat.

Then I lamented to him: “Aiyo, mummy can’t get it. Too squeezed”

WB2: “ too fat!”

Me: “huh?!....”

I couldn’t believe my ears, so I asked him, “who’s too fat?”

WB2: “mummy”
Me: “…….”

Can’t believe these words come from a 2+yr old. Seriously, where did he get such ideas from?!
